Description:

The Berry Loop takes you from Chinaberry Day Use Area, up the Soapberry Spur, across a shelf 400 feet above the canyon floor, and down a series of switchbacks into Hackberry Camping Loop. It features amazing views of Capitol Peak and Timber Canyon, as well as beautiful rock formations and a pretty good chance of seeing the elusive Aoudad sheep!

Prepare: Dress for the weather, wear good hiking shoes or boots, and bring plenty of water to drink. You may also want a hiking stick, but it is not required. This hike is moderately difficult and about 1.5 miles in length. Friendly, leashed pets are welcome on the hike. Plan to arrive at the park by 9:30am to ensure that you make it to the hike on time.

Meet: At the Chinaberry Day Use Area, just after the first water crossing on the right side of the road.

Fees: Regular park entrance fees ($5 per adult, children 12 & under are free). No charge for this program.
