Description:

Below the Palo Duro Canyon State Park Visitor Center are the remains of one of the earliest camp sites in the park - known as the Art Camp or The Village. Take an interpretive walk through this fascinating area and learn about the history of the Civilian Conservation Corp who built it and the local college students who studied their craft there.

Prepare: The majority of the walk is easy, but do come prepared to climb down several flights of stairs to get to the camp, then back out at the end. Wear good hiking or walking shoes and bring water to drink. The weather is unpredictable at this time of year, so check the forecast and dress appropriately.

Meet: At the El Coronado Lodge Visitor Center, 3/4 of a mile inside the park gates. Please plan to arrive at the park entrance no later than 2:30pm to ensure that you make it to the hike on time.

Fees: Regular park entrance fees ($5 per adult, children 12 & under are free). No charge for this program.
