Get outside and identify park wildlife and plant life using iNaturalist!

The goal for this project is to document the diverse wildlife and plant life of Caprock Canyons State Park & Trailway. Park staff will utilize the information gleaned from this project for educational and reference purposes. Due to COVID-19, observations will be conducted independently and collaboration will occur virtually on the iNaturalist platform. Please, no more than 10 people to a group! This event is designed to help us out and also provide a great way for you to get outside and enjoy nature!

Bison Encounters & General Park Safety:

Bison:
The Texas State Bison Herd free-ranges inside the entire park. Please practice social distancing with the bison too and be respectful! Please stay at least 50 yards away from bison at all times!

General Safety:
Temperatures in the canyons are ten degrees higher than reported air temperatures. Please bring water and salty snacks for any observing that will involve hiking. Please avoid strenuous activities during the middle of the day. We advise you to do any hiking in the morning hours.
